A Week Thru Instagram

Happy Friday!
It's going to be a busy one for me.  The whole gang is in town for the NC State/ Tennessee game, so we'll be down at the Dome cheering on the Wolfpack.  It's my first time yelling the name of an ACC team... definitely something new!  Guess I have to take one for the team, since the boy decks himself out in orange & blue for Gator games.

Top:  StyleMint dress/Shades of Blue for work, long taupe maxi for week night dinner, gold dots for Friday date night
Middle:  new blogger button {yay!}, mixin' up something sweet for work friends, flower shopping at the nursery
Bottom: all the girls back together {wedding time!}, sugar high at the wedding, long maxi dress for a night of fun!

Statement Necklace :: Outfit

Marionberry Style is hosting a monthly trend link-up for statement necklaces today...
a solid reason for me to dust off the 'ol Stella & Dot Pegasus necklace and seersucker suit.
 {I find myself rushing to wear those last minute summer outfits before Labor Day.}

I can't wait to make this necklace part of my fall wardrobe.
I think it'll add that extra pop to a basic sweater.
Dress it up or down, it's just perfect!

Shop the Pegasus necklace here.

Suit:  JCrew {old} // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban Wayfarer 2140 //
Jewels:  Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Stella and Dot Pegasus Necklace

Happy Wednesday~We're almost there!!

Loafer Lust

Okay, I know purchasing a few of these can only take place in a dream world, but Loeffler Randall has some to-die-for shoes for fall.
The Blaise Flat Moccasins and Printed Calf Hair Loafer definitely make a statement. Liz {Sequins & Stripes} tweeted a few days ago about the moccasins, so I had to take a look.  I'm in love with every.single.pair, especially after snagging this pair over the summer.
I have a company credit to use, so I need to make a decision fast before they are all taken!

If they were heels, saying no would be much easier!
Flats like these are so versatile for working, shopping, or
going out for dinner~ it's hard to turn away!

Striped Peplum :: Outfit

I was going to wait until the cooler breezes hit the south before I wore my new favorite striped peplum from Zara, but I couldn't!  Ben and I went out for our normal Sunday lunch at our favorite mexican restaurant. "Texas fajitas, please!" I decided to throw on the little zip-up with a pair of brightly colored JCrew chinos.  Very basic and comfortable.

Top:  Zara Peplum Jacket // Shorts:  JCrew Chino // Jewels:  Michael Kors,
Stella&Dot, Max & Chloe, Kate Spade, JCrew // Sunglasses:  Ray-Ban Wayfarer

Happy Monday~ Hope it's a great one!

The Happiest Day of the Week

Thank goodness it's Friday!!
With nothing on the calendar, I'm looking forward to a massage,
yummy food and good sleep in my future!

The Week of Chambray :: Outfit

I didn't plan it, but this week was a week of chambray~ quite possibly some of my most favorite shirts in my closet.
You'd think it was part of a uniform that I had to wear to work.
It's just so versatile and comfortable. Here are two of my favorites:
-corny poses, but my photographer {aka, Ben} was unavailable at 6am.-

Plain, Basic Chambray on Monday
Top:  JCrew Chambray // Jeans: Yellow & Beige Ann Taylor Loft Skinnies {old} //

Lipstick Jungle

I think I am going to finally bite the bullet and act off some of my mother's advice,
"Taylor, you need to wear some color on your lips."

I hate make-up.  It feels like a mask and it's one extra thing I have to put on in the morning.  I'd rather go au natural on a daily basis, but I'm afraid the black rings around my eyes would be frightening to passerbys. Looking at recent pictures, I have to agree that I need something
 on the lips to wake me up a little.

While I'm not ready to jump into painted red lips, I am ready to add some sort of blush to these smackers. Who knows?! Maybe I'll dive into more color once I get used to a brighter look.

What are some of your favorite tubes that have a touch of color?
Goodness knows I need your advice on this one.

{images 1, 2}

What colors will you be wearing for fall?
I look forward to taking your suggestions to the make-up counter this weekend.

Fall :: Drab/Fab

In the past, fall has always meant a transition to pieces with more of a muted color.  I was never one to pull out the brights to add to my basic fall tones. At the end of summer, my box of brights would be neatly packed away and the earth tones would make their appearance. I think this year I'll mix it up and add that extra "pop" to my wardrobe.   I'll leave out a few brights to enjoy for the cooler months.

Why not?! Who said there are specific colors for every season?
I think the brightness turns the fall drab into fall fab.
~Something that's so easy to do~
melon sherbert & taupe
Easter mint & lipstick red
sunshine yellow & oatmeal
fiery orange & black
bright blue & navy

I'll definitely be adding colors from Crayola's box to my wardrobe.
Fire-Engine Red
Big Dip O' Ruby
Illuminating Emerald
Razzmic Berry
Cosmic Cobalt
Lemon Glacier

I've always wondered if being a teacher would help me with fashion.
Special thanks to the little one who brought in the 64 count color box today. It was the highlight of my day.

Wedding Weekend :: Outfit

Perfect night to celebrate Megan & Jake with all my college girlfriends.

I took a break from the short cocktail look with heels
 and went for comfort in a maxi dress and flat sandals.
I think I had more fun because of it!

Clutch: Rattan Turnlock Block by Tory Burch {love this style} //
Sandals: Jack Rogers Navajos // Jewels:  JCrew, Stella&Dot, David Yurman

I feel rested and rejuvenated for a brand new week {thank goodness}.

Soon Enough

This Friday could not have come soon enough.  So, how will I spend my days off?
Tonight, Phipps and I plan to put every thing to the side and just sit in our pajamas and veg!
 I can't think of a better way to celebrate the end of the week than with my four-legged best friend.
  The boy is headed to a Braves game, so it's a 'girls only' party at my place.

We'll need a lot of rest because Saturday brings a long overdue reunion with my college girlfriends.
Yep, "somebody's getting married!!" I'm so excited to see the bride!

Happy Friday, everyone~ Hope your weekend is special!

Switching It Up

I usually dread season changes because it means hauling clothing from my loft down to the basement and then back up again.  I love my loft, but with limited space I have to switch out my closets for each season. It's a project that takes an entire weekend.

This year, I'm ready. I could not be more excited for the days to cool off, the leaves to begin changing into their brighter colors, and to dust off the 'ol boots.  I'm ready for fall.  Recent purchases have all been for cooler weather.  I'm ready to take a break from my brights and head into earth tones and holiday sparkles.

Here are a few things I've either already picked up or are on the list to become MINE, all mine, reallll soon!
These are the finishing touches to being ready for fall!

  love that Tumblr!

*LL Bean Short Duck Boots~ Not sure why I want these considering the mega drought we are under.  The nightly news reminds me of this every night. Perhaps, I should heed their warnings and save for an increased grocery bill... but grocery bills aren't cute and THESE are!!

*Love these ILY Couture baubles!! Perfect for adding a pop of color to more subtle fall hues.

*Zara Peplum Jacket~ This just came in the mail. The minute the wind begins to blow just a smidge, you'll find me in this jacket.
It's even cuter in person!!

*JCrew Field Jacket in Navy.  I bought this a few years ago in an Army green color and had to get the navy as soon as I saw it.  I guarantee you, people will stop to ask you where it came from.

*JCrew Oiled MacAlister Boot. Got these during the summer 30% off sale.  Can't wait to roll up my skinny jeans, throw on a cute pair of striped socks and sport these booties with shimmery gold laces.

*Kate Spade Cora Loafer. I've seen too many adorable outfits paired with these that I had to make the gold glitter mine.
Glitter and bows all-in-one is perfect-for-me!

*JCrew Wool Flannel Schoolboy Blazer in Heather Caramel.  This is by far my favorite color.  It's the perfect go with anything blazer for fall.  It's on my wish list for now, but hope to have it hanging in my closet soon.

*Colored Cords.  A steal of a deal from Target by Mossimo, not lying!  Love the fit and feel of these comfy cords.  With this price, you can afford to buy every color.

Knowing me, I am sure there will be more added to my *wishes.*
However, right now- we're just waiting for a windy day to cool us down in Atlanta.
 Here's to hoping this weekend's rainy forecast makes our cool down wishes come true!

Midweek Mutter

This week has been tough to say the least. I'm wearing myself slap OUT!

While I wish I could find my normal self walking into my closet each morning like this...
{Let's face it- sometimes I do!}

I find myself doing this instead...

I honestly think it's lack of sleep. Isn't that what almost every foul mood is linked to in the end? I've read so many blog posts lately where bloggers have vowed to cut off laptops and social media after a certain point in the evening.  I would absolutely LOVE to do this. It would be nice to get into bed at a decent hour and wake up the 1st time my alarm goes off and not the 50th.

It's just not possible. Little bodies consume My time to catch up with the blog world is in the evenings. I love it. I look forward to it.  So how do you juggle it all?! {A full-time job, following blogs, reading about trends, keeping in shape... all while maintaining your sanity and your relationships.}  I count down the days until the weekend and fill the calendar with Saturday chores in hopes to get ahead for the next week. {yea right!}

In moments like this, I have to stop, go to my inbox and pull up an
old email from my mom with this little gem.
{After all, doesn't mom know best?}

It doesn't answer how to juggle the daily grind.
{I'm hoping that answer will come once the school year gets going.}

But what it does do is help me to stop focusing on tomorrow
and start enjoying today for exactly what it is and what it brings me.

Long Locks

After thirty-one years, I think the hardest thing I've experienced is trying to grow out a short, stacked A-line/bob hair cut.  {Not really the hardest, but it ranks high up there!!!}  Since I was a junior in high school, I've had my hair in a short style.  I've been known for being the girl with short hair.  Honestly, it suited my personality to a tee, so I kept it that way for many years.

About a year ago, I decided to cut off my relationship with the scissors for a little while.
Surprisingly, I've really stuck with it and gained some minor length on these locks.
 It's nothing big AT ALL, but a big deal for me.

I'm fighting a major flip-do right now because of where it hits on my shoulders/back.  In an effort to keep my 'growing' motivation.  I searched my favorite tumblr sites and saved a few of the images as inspiration. Hey, Miley Cyrus may need a few of these taped to her bathroom mirror after her drastic hair change.

While I'm not planning on going this long, it definitely helps to look at long, natural locks and keep the growin' goin'!

Braids are motivation enough to have long hair.

Sometimes your hair speaks for itself.
No matter what pieces you are wearing, long flowing locks just take the cake.
{Thinking Giuliana Rancic}

This could quite possibly tempt me to go back to my auburn roots.
Definitely a one-of-a-kind look.

So, here's to long locks for the upcoming winter months and also to avoiding the scissor temptation!
Braids, buns, waves, or classic sleek...
Lately, it seems that long hair is just more fun!

Runway Remarks :: Outfit

So, this past weekend I attended a black-tie fundraising event.  From the minute I committed to attending, I fretted about what I would wear.  Because the event was on a Friday, I knew I wanted something fun, yet very comfortable.  After teaching all week, those two attributes were a MUST!

Let me remind you about this post~ Rent the Runway.

Yep, I went through with it.  I browsed the site several times, tried to reserve numerous different styles {only to find they were already selected by others and were not available} and finally decided on "the one."  Note to self- reserve a piece early if you want to guarantee a particular one.

On Wednesday, I arrived home to this package waiting on me.

Inside the box were two different dry-cleaned sizes in the dress I chose.  LOVED this part of the process because I really wasn't sure what size to order and I was putting all of my eggs into one basket, as far as a dress for the event goes.  If it didn't work out, I would go into panic mode!

Here it is... My first experience with a Tibi dress and it could not have been better.  The dress fit perfectly! RTR really did a great job of advising me on the best heel height to wear for the length of the dress. Seeing that I am pretty short, this was a big thing for me.  The only thing that I had to do was steam the dress.  Traveling in a box created a few creases in the fabric.

Dress: Tibi Catalina Gown // Jewels:  JCrew Necklace, Max & Chloe monogram

I received several email reminders to return the dresses in the provided pre-paid package before noon the next day.  {Honestly, I needed those reminders seeing that we had a little too much fun.}

I would definitely try Rent the Runway again.  Many of the dresses that I buy for special occasions are, sadly, only worn once before I thrift it. So, it was fun to experience a pricey label without the guilt of the price tag or it sitting lonely in my closet.

It was definitely a fun weekend. Hope all of you had a good one, too!

Happy Happy Friday Everyone!!!

A Week Thru Instagram

Words are not enough to express how happy I am that tomorrow is Friday.  I am out of "school shape."  I went from lounging on the beach, late nights and sleeping in, days without getting dressed, no to-do lists to tons of parent emails, 10 minutes to scarf down my lunch at the copy machine, waking up before the sun comes up and trying to keep my eyes open until the sun goes down.

Admist the school chaos...

Lately I've been overwhelmed with endless tasks to cross off the list, but despite my bloodshot eyes and the Santa sacks under my eyes, I remain very thankful for every bit of it.

Busy Days :: Outfit

First week back in school and I'm BEyond exhausted.  I have to push myself not to grab an afternoon nap and skip the gym. With this being my tenth year, I guess there's no better way to celebrate on the first day than have a child wander off and get on a random, yes RANDOM, bus because he was tired of waiting on his mom in carpool.  I spent my entire Monday afternoon on a wild goose chase trying to get the little fella back to school and then home to mom.  Needless to say, I indulged in a much needed cocktail when I got home and more.

Because I'm using all of my creativity at school, I'm too tired to even think of something clever or insightful to post.  I don't want to neglect my little blog, though. So, I'll just update everyone on the "#ootd" shots~ a few images shot on my way out of the door.

Hey there little fella!
Top:  Madewell Overdot Tee // Pants:  Target {love their skinny jeans lately} // Belt: JCrew {older} //

I should have known when I wore these glittery toppers that I would have several little 6 year olds "oooing" and "ahhing"" at my princess slippers.  Yes, that's what they were called. Tiny hands kept trying to rub them all day long.

I think I've been grabbing brighter pieces to keep me awake~ good thing tomorrow is Friday!
 Here's to smoother days ahead!

My Rent the Runway surprise arrived yesterday.  The BIG event is tomorrow! I'll be sure to snap some pics and keep you posted on my first experience with the company and my rented, little Tibi number.

Don't forget to enter the giveaway!! A winner will be selected tomorrow!!!
