weekend update

On Wednesday, I left the beach to head back to Atlanta for the Peachtree Road Race, the world's largest 10k. To say I was unprepared is an understatement. I've been at the beach with my mom for almost a month. The most productive I've been {aside from wedding planning} is making it out to the ocean before 11am. In typical fashion, I procrastinated in getting in shape for the race. Yes, I go to the gym daily- but rarely do I truly push myself like I am getting ready for a big physical feat. B and I really got lucky with an early start time. That meant we would start and finish before the heat and humidity really settled in for the day. I'd like to personally thank the person who thought we were marathon runners and placed us in the "seeded" start time division. {Boy, was that person having an off day!!} It was the on-going joke of the day that we scored such highly sought after race bibbs.

We finished with an acceptable finish time. Nothing great, but I did a lot better than I expected. I'll file it away with some other pretty exceptional life moments. The crowd, the bands, the overall ambience is very inspiring and motivating. If you live close to Atlanta, it should definitely be on your Bucket List. It's an event that truly brings thousands together with the right attitude and spirit. If anything, just come and be part of the crowd.

After the race, we indulged in a large mexican lunch, a much needed nap, a few holiday sales at the mall, and a long overdue visit with good friends. By far the best Fourth ever!
After our Fourth of July in Atlanta, B flew down and met me at the beach. I have one more week down here before I head back to Atlanta to prepare for the new school year. We spent all day Saturday at the beach. I could barely move my legs, but after a few aspirin I was able to move enough to soak up the sun. {Lesson learned: I need to up the ante on my daily gym sessions if the race made me THAT sore.}  Sunday started off kinda cloudy, so we took the bikes out and cruised around the island. My cruiser had a handy little basket perfect for a few road sodas for the ride.

Perfect weekend!
I've enjoyed the past few days. Here it is Monday... I woke up at 4:30 this morning to get B to the airport. I'll enjoy my last 5 days at the beach checking off a few more things for the wedding and soaking up the sun. In typical "Taylor" fashion, I have a loaded to-do list for the last few days.

Hope you all had a great holiday weekend!
Just a little side note, J.Crew is having their 7 Days of Summer Sale!! Today, all tops are 30% off.
This, this, and this have made my wish list. Use code MONDAY to snag your goodies.
