Life Lately

It's finally Friday. I know we all say this EVERY Friday, but I could not be happier.
This week has been crazy gearing up for conferences and report cards that happen next week.
It'll be nice to have a little down time before it all happens. My 'professional photographer,' aka Ben,
is out of town for a week, so please be patient with the outfit posts. I'll try to make-do. I've accepted
feeling like a complete dork posing for pictures, but walking around with a tripod and a camera remote takes the cake. I haven't quite reached that confidence level yet! I'll gladly accept any tips from those of you who take your pictures that way. I definitely need some.

On Monday, our Save the Dates traveled their way through the mail and into the homes
of our friends and family who will be celebrating with us in April. I waited to share them, so it would be a surprise. We had Ashley Brooke Designs create them for us and she could not have captured us in a better way! Tall Ben, me, and our love for our little dogs Mimi, Crew, and our unforgettable Phipps, all rolled into one image.

As I reflect on this week, the days began with me griping about being overloaded at work, frustrated with J.Crew Factory because they advertised a sale price on new arrivals only to put them on an even better sale the following day (after I placed my order), wedding decisions/ feeling behind, and being pushed to the max walking a tireless pup and a chihuahua who thinks his leg is broken, when it's only a badly bruised muscle. {Ben, please come home soon!} As I sat down tonight to do my blog post, I decided to catch up with a few of my favorite blogs while watching the highly talked about episode of Glee. I never watch the show, but was curious to see how the story of Cory Monteith, "Finn," was going to be told. If that wasn't enough, I began reading Haley Shepard's post on her blog, Sequins and Things, where she opens up about the recent loss of her mother. Both stories really put my materialistic and irrelevant worries and complaints to rest. Tonight was exactly what I needed. A moment to reflect on the blessings and the people in my life versus the trivial, unnecessary distractions that steal my joy. We all feel it from time to time... but, there's nothing better than the moment when you stop and realize
just how fortunate you are.

Happy Friday + Have a great weekend!

  1. Your Save the Date is adorable! People really walk around with a tripod and take pictures of themselves?! I could never in a million years do that! I don't watch Glee either but wondered how they ended up ending Finn's story. I'll have to check it out. Have a good weekend!

I actually told my mom about your email and we discussed it. I should have just started typing as we chatted about you. Hope all is swell! xo
